I tried it with masking, but there seemed to be a problem getting to one of the special pages, so I just set it to a redirect. I realized that using the wikkii.net domain name would be a promotion, so I decided not to worry about it. Although, I think it's very good for attracting people to the service to be able to at least use the root domain with their wikis. That way, it's basically a full, free web host for wikis, or at least close enough. This is pretty much all you need if you're looking to host a wiki and your domain registar is cheap and gives you a lot of control. I'm thinking about looking for such registars to mention on the Community Wiki, since this service would probably be very attractive to people who are looking for free web host for a wiki.

Is it ok for wikis to add banners for free banner exchanges? No money would be exchanged, just banners between everyone involved.
I'm wondering if it would be ok to add the Librarium Online banner exchange banner to the Malleus Commons. It's a free banner exchange between various Warhammer related websites, as a way of helping attract users.
I'm also thinking about setting up something like this for the Community Wiki and other wikis.

You can apply for advanced hosting, which gives you total control over the wiki. Setting up and working with MediaWiki is fairly easy. Literally the only two restrictions are that you have a link back to Wikkii somewhere visible from the main page and an adbanner visible to logged out users.

That will be great. I installed AWC forums to make use of the private message feature, except it was really slow, making worse than just using email. I turned off email because of the potential for people to do unauthorized collaboration, or at least be working in concert without publicly available information on their collaboration. I might have mentioned this here before, but I saw that warseer.com apparently had a problem with people sending private messages to each other with information on where to illegally download Forgeworld books. Sturmkrieg isn't really big enough for that to be a problem, but it wouldn't hurt to have a way of knowing if people are doing it. It would be good if there was a permission for sending messages, so that abusers could be applied to a group that revoked the sending ability.
Thanks for your work.

You will have to set up the wiki yourself, but it's not really that difficult. You can look at the directions at mediawiki.org and use the forum here, which will be very useful for clarifying what to do.

If you request advanced hosting, you'll be able to have total control over your wiki, and how you want to customize it.
The only requirement is that you keep the small adbanner that logged out users see. Other than that, it's unlimited control. I believe the wiki may have to be public through, at least for viewing.

You can request customizations and extensions, as long as they aren't disruptive for farmer wiki users who don't need them. If the farmer wikis can't be setup the way you would like, you can request an advanced hosting account.
Is there a particular extension that has fonts that you are interested in?

Yeah, I see the point about the forum. I'll take a look at the available rights for farmer admins, but I would definitely recommend appointing users to manage the farms. In that case, I would recommend just giving the ability to suspend wikis, and possibly having some way for admins to flag particular suspended wikis for deletion. The cpanel accounts seem like they should be restricted to highly trusted users, since they might have more sensitive information in them, and I think the only way to control them is from the web hosting control panel. If there's a way to configure the wiki farms so that specific users can be given suspension privileges, then I would support that. There seem to be huge numbers of spam and unused farmer wikis, with plenty of troll/dubious wikis mixed in. For example, you might want to look out for this: http://tehtrollwiki.jumpwiki.com/wiki/Main_Page

I was thinking that it would be beneficial to appoint a few moderators to help monitor the forum, and to allow action to be taken faster against inappropriate actions by users. I've noticed that Wikkii has been becoming a destination for trolls, which is obvious very undesirable. There are two major incidents that I remember. I've also seen some drama on specific wikis, although I'll leave that up to the local admins.
To be moderators, I nominate myself, Sovereign, Fanra, and Gin-san if he becomes active again.
