It's possible that Wikkii might be able to get the database tables for you; I'm not totally sure as I'm not totally familiar with how the Farmer system works. It would be worth asking though.
If Wikkii can get you the database tables, you would need to add them to an advanced hosted wiki.
You don't start a wiki at the Community Wiki, but there is a backup system there that you can download and import to your wiki. It's also at the Hub Wiki too. You'll still need to make sure you set it up correctly (fairly easy) since the way it works is it uses a create box with a presetup layout for articles that automatically includes them in a "Data" category. You then export that category whenever you want to create a backup.

You need to have advanced hosting in order to install extensions.
You can apply for it at wikkii.net.
If you need any help with it at all, there are plenty of resources at the Community Wiki and Hub Wiki. We can also answer any questions you have at this forum.

General Category / General Discussion / Would anyone be interested in being admin of a Warhammer wiki?
|

Hello, I recently set up wiki encyclopedias to be about the "history" and background of Warhammer and Warhammer 40,000. I currently have them in English and German, although nothing is on them yet. I created them to go with the wiki for fan created content that I have. You can go to http://www.sturmkrieg.com to take a look. I'm wondering if anyone with an interest in the hobby would be interested in working on either of them. I'll be linking them with the Community Wiki and adding the supporter of Wikkii headings to them.

Do you mean another wiki software?
As long as it will work compatibility-wise, I think it would probably be ok as long as you were still able to add the ad banner. I know that wikis are allowed to setup forums on their servers as long as they're related to the wiki and still have the ad banner.
We'll see what Wikkii says about it.

I didn't install this on Wikkii, but I'll keep it in mind for the wikis I create here. I remember someone else requested it here, and the amount of memory was a concern about it. It's also a concern for me too, as I don't want my server getting filled up with books that people create. I was planning on only allowing administrators to save books to counter that problem.
No problem though, I won't install Collection on any of the Wikkii wikis I run.

I'm in the process of making Wikkii more competitive with with Wikia by improving the network between wikis and the overall sense of community between editors and admins of different wikis. Wikkii is far better than other hosting services, especially because of the control that you get. Advanced hosting gives you unlimited control; I'm pretty sure you can fully use your own domain names with it. The only advantage that I think Wikia has is the sense of community and every wiki being together. By comparison, I felt that (while the free nature of Wikkii is great and far better) you can be "alone in the woods" when you first start a wiki here. I'm working to change that though. One of the things I'm doing is creating a Community Wiki where people can go to promote their wikis on the Community Wiki and also on similar wikis with footer templates.
I think Wikkii is just providing a very open ended hosting service with the focus on the wiki admin and user.
I'm not an admin BTW.

I don't use a free liscense.
The problem is not with me. It's because it's a Warhammer wiki and I don't think Games Workshop would want Pedia Press to be making money printing books of people's fan created content. They even say they don't want people paying companies to print flyers for Warhammer gaming events.
I don't currently have the extension enabled. Some at MediaWiki suggested just doing something that would remove the link between the wiki and Pedia Press, but I'm not sure that's fool proof, and it would look pretty terrible.
