I'm not sure if there is any interest in having a paid wiki. But there seems to be quite a few people who would like to install various extensions that we can't support on the current wiki farm platform.

If you are interested please let me know.

You would be given an empty account with Cpanel and FTP access, where you can install Mediawiki, and customise it however you like.

Just out of curiosity, what effect would this proposed set-up have on the people who already have CPanel and FTP access (before Wikkii set-up the newer system)?

If you already have FTP/Cpanel access there will be no changes. You will still retain your free accounts.

The reason I stopped setting up free accounts with Cpanel/FTP was because so many people would request it, then not end up starting their wiki so I would have to delete the account. It became a time-drain.

But with a small monthly or yearly fee I think we can weed out the time-wasters.

What about the old customers who did set up a wiki. Do we have to pay too if we request new one?

If you are an old customer with with FTP/Cpanel access then we should be able to create another account for you without charge. But not for new customers though.
