Starting out with advanced hosting

I've been planning on creating several wikis (if they do not already exist) on popular topics such as Fallout, Call of Duty, ect. I'm planning on importing pages from some of the Wikia wikis on the same topic to use as a starting point, to help the wiki attract users quickly. Wikia wikis are all set to the GNU free liscense, similar to Wikipedia. My goal is to attract more people to Wikkii, create good wikis with good user service, and also have a better location for find the information than the Wikia wikis, which are very difficult to navigate and edit, and are also full of ads which get in the way of the text.
This isn't a formal request for advanced hosting, but I'm just wondering whether I would be approved for this. I would also start with one wiki at a time and fully set it up before asking for a new one. Additionally, I would probably wait to find users to make admins to over see that specific wiki before creating another one.
I have a need for particular extensions to use, such as the Mass Edit Regex extension, which would make it easier to attribute pages. An advanced hosted wiki would also be better because it would allow me to have spaces in the name of the wiki; Call of Duty Wiki would look better than CallofDutyWiki.

Yes sure, something like this would be approved, especially if you are the one applying for it (as we know you).
Good luck with this

Just curious ...
Are you the wiki admins over at the other wikis you intend to import?
What about community consensus? Has the community's views been reviewed on whether they allow another site to 'share' their work? Share-alike License not withstanding, some users are very sensitive about who 'copies' their work, for lack of a better word.
We other wikkii users don't want anyone to import flaming wars over to wikkii sites, which the other wiki sites are notorious for.

I once asked one of the admins at The Vault a long time ago if he wanted to move to Wikkii. He said he thought it could be good, and that a lot of users would prefer the normal wiki skins and interface, but I think the the main thing that kept him from it was that he mentioned was the effort it would take to import and also the fact that Wikia is very oppressive about people who want to move, and would not allow any sort of notice of the move to be posted, which would prevent the move from being effective.
I think that by the time the wikis become popular, they won't be carbon copies anymore. Also, I think that there's not too much risk of Wikia sysops causing trouble here; I think what's more likely to happen is that Wikia might get more oppressive about mentions of Wikkii or involvement with us on their wikis. I don't think that a lot of the sysops are the origininal "owners" any more either, seeing as how Wikia removes all sysops they don't like, which included a lot of purges last year when a lot of sysops worked on moving their wikis to avoid the horrible, confusing, tiny, and ad-heavy skin. Since the sysops won't the the wiki "owners," I think that they won't be as passionate about other sites using their content. I think it's more likely that some wiki sysops might take issue with our wikis as competitors. I also think (based on experience) in that case that they would think of us as inferior if most of our content is taken from them, and see the attribution templates as a sort of free advertising. There's also the possiblity that they'll just join us if they see that someone else has taken the time to import the content.

I don't think any of them are actually abandon, as the wikis that moved just got the sysops replaced and forced by the Wikia staff to act as a mirror of the true site.

Oh. Were you talking about Wikkii wikis? I thought you were talking about Wikia wikis that were abandon.
Yes. I've seen many abandon Wikkii wikis. I think a lot of them are created by spammers but fall under the radar, or are created by people who intend to use them but never follow up.

Yeah, I can easily search through 100 wikkii's and find 95 abandoned/shut down/spammer wiki. Stinks to see this; it's partially because Wikkii's wiki's don't show up on Google search results compared to Wikia's.

You can google "add a site to Google" and the page where you add new sites should come up.
