Hello, from me, EpicWikipedian. I've sent in a request for an Advanced Hosting wiki, and I've recently got approved. However, what do I put in the "Database host" box when installing MediaWiki onto my Advanced Hosting wiki? It kept coming up with errors, and I've given up trying after hours of attempts. Thanks for listening.

Try 'localhost'.

Did you create a MySQL database using Cpanel?  And a user?

Did you set the user as a user for the database?  You have to specifically add the user account to the database.

Ok, I've done that, and tried every other suggestion you've given me, but it is still not working. Have I set up the file in the wrong place? Thanks for listening.

Sorry about the very long delay, but here is the error. I've censored out the stuff on that error which I don't really feel comfortable sharing (<removed> indicates private stuff):

DB connection error: Access denied for user '<removed>'@'localhost' (using password: <removed>) (localhost).

Check the host, username and password and try again.

Are you able to help me further? Thanks for listening.

You haven't added the MySQL user you created to the wiki's database, or did not create an account in the first place.

After 5 days of having an extremely hard time of trying to sort things out, I've finally managed to set up my new wiki, Nonsary, a parody of Wiktionary. It can be accessed on http://nonsary.wikkii.net/mediawiki-1.19.0/index.php?title=Main_Page. The wiki hasn't been fully set up yet, with a poorly placed ad banner and the fact that it isn't the first thing to load when you view the short version of the URL, but hopefully that can all be done within 2 weeks. smile Thanks for the help, guys.

You can setup a redirect to make it so that you get to the wiki.

You also might want to shorten the name of the mediawiki-1.19.0 folder.

Good job.  It will go a lot easier in the future.
