I understand that wikkii has passthru() disabled for security reasons, and therefore is unable to support .svg images. However, a member of my wiki was very determined to use .svg and found a wikkii wiki where an .svg was used without problem, so I looked into it more and found that they had imported that image from wikipedia. So, I tried to do so on my wiki, and was able to successfully import and use a .svg image from wikipedia on my wiki (iiwiki.wikkii.net). However, as usual, uploading them directely would result in the errors.

Is there a reason why this is the case? And if I am able to view and use .svg images imported from wikipedia, would there be a way to get them to be shown via the regular upload file method?

I think the SVG files work just fine, if your browser has SVG support (most modern ones do).  It's only the thumbnail that does not work (due to passthrough not working).

As for the flag, the actual file is on wikimedia, not local on your wiki.  I suspect you have InstantCommons enabled.
